Happy New Year! The dawn of a new year is here. A fresh start, as some people say. I’m excited to start working on some resolutions I have. We all have something we would like to improve or change. In coming posts I would like to revel some of these resolutions, I have for myself.

Last night we had our New Year’s Eve party with some friends. Not only did we celebrate New Years, but also my birthday! My wife and our friend Catie put together some snacks. We had some Chex Muddy Buddies, little smokies, Buffalo Wild Wings, chocolate fondue and a bunch of other goodies. The wings were gone fairly quickly. But everything else was munched on throughout the night.

We played a few board games. The guys and girls battled it out in a game of Battle of the Sexes. Believe it or not, the guys won. It’s very rare that we do. I mean, how are we suppose to know about “girly stuff.” Not to mention the questions pertaining to New Kids On the Block. We’re men. :P Anyways, Battle of the Sexes was very fun. We also played a quick round of Buzz Words. The girls beat us to a pulp. You could call it “Teamwork”. I would call it “Ganging Up.”

After that, the guys spent most of the night playing Age of Empires II. I can’t believe how a game that’s over 10 years old, can still be so much fun. I guess it never gets old. The mini-LAN party was setup on the kitchen table with three laptops. It looked like a geek-athon. But many little virtual lives were lost in our quest for each-other’s kings. Alright enough Geek’n.

The night ended shortly after watching the ball fall on Dick Clark’s New Years Eve. Everyone went home safely and all was well! Thanks to our friends Catie and David for hosting! I hope your New Years was as grand as ours!

  1. Thanks for checking out my blog! I just subscribed to yours–I have to say, the vaaaaaaaast majority of bloggers I’ve found are women, and I’m interested in reading things from a male perspective.

We totally stayed home and played games too–which sounded a million and a half times better than, like, clubbing with the entire 20-something population of SF. Blech.

    Happy New Year!

  2. Happy New Year! I wish I had played games for NYE. I ended up watching Pirates of the Caribbean for the 20th time with a friend and eating sushi. Still not a bad way to ring in the new year…

Best of luck with the resolutions!

  3. Hey Matt! Thanks for checking out my blog and leaving a comment! I’m honored…and very happy that I can click this out to you instead of writing it in the dirt with a stick. I suppose my dad did know how to write a letter and stick a stamp on but for the purposes of blogging one must take a little poetic license now and then. Happy New Year to you and yours. Best! And, thanks again for following my blog.

  5. I really dig “Age of Empires.” Have you tried the “Asian Empires” expansion? It’s soooo cool. Thanks for reading “Go Coug-sars” too. Describing Toppenish as a town that looks like the old west town from “Back to the Future III” is a good way to put it! Like your blog. Keep it up!

  6. Oddly enough, your NYE sounds a lot like mine. I love playing games, especially with big groups of people. It’s always so much fun!

  7. Well we (my husband, me, my brother in law and his girlfriend) played the new game we bought them for Xmas called Dirty Minds. The game was won quickly, but then we moved on to just asking the questions- which was hysterical. It is a pretty fun game so we might get them the expansion pack next year! Then we break out the Big Book of IF, which is always bound to get someone in trouble, and started asking questions from that. Everyone had to answer, except the person asking.
