Lego Building Challenge: Who’s Your Big Daddy
A group on Flickr called “LUGNuts” is hosting a Lego vehicle building challenge. The challenge features works honoring great automotive designers. Some of the submitted Lego builds include works from Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, Tom Daniels and George Barris. I’m a big fan of works from all these designers. I can remember watching my brother putting model kits together of some of the cars featured. I am extremely impressed with the works of art already submitted. If I get time I will try to submit something myself. Below are the rules and link to access the group’s challenge.
To succeed in this challenge, you should…well, build a car, truck, or bike as always. But this time, you should also state the real name of the great designer you are honoring somewhere in your write up. That is vitally important! Just posting some generic car with no explanation at all will either be deleted or, in case you haven’t caught on to it, will be ripped on mercilessly during the blog round up. Got it? Good! You may choose any of the designers I have mentioned or discover one on your own. Making one up or citing yourself as a brilliant designer is not a good idea. While some of us Lego builders have enjoyed a certain amount of fame, lets not choose a Lego artist as your inspiration…not for this challenge anyway.
Just like last month, I have set up two strings simultaneously. This one is for photo entries and short write ups ONLY, while the other is for your ideas, questions, comments, concerns and any other babble you want to talk about.
Today is the 1st of August, you have until September 1st…one month to post your creations here. Post one, or post many. Build in any scale whether it be micro, minifig, mainland or beyond. Lets honor our great automotive heroes! Who knows…maybe someday if you’re lucky…and good at what you do, your chosen hero may eventually see your creation.. That would be awesome! Oh, and as always…happy building!
