I’m sure you’ve heard about the recent online social fad Mystery Google/Seeker (whatever it’s called currently). I’ve seen several request on forums on, how to add missions to Mystery Google. It’s very simple. All you need to do is enter your mission in the search box on mysterygoogle.com. Example below.
Search: “Your mission: [whatever you what people to do here]”
It’s as simple as that. You’ll have people all over the world doing things you ask them to do! You can copy/paste and re-post over and over to inform more people about your mission. However do no over post. You will get blocked by the server. Google may even block you as well (suspecting spam or bot activity). Happy missions!
Do you find yourself trying to manage bookmarks on multiple computers? Got a big project and trying to organize your research bookmarks? I’ve had these same issues. But I found an easy way to boost my productivity in this area.
Just recently I started using Google Bookmarks. All my bookmarks are all stored online. Regardless of which machine or browser I’m using, I’ve got my bookmarks. To help sort my bookmarks, I use labels. The labels make it really easy to find bookmarks by topic. When working on my own projects, I create a label for each project. Anytime I need to find a bookmark for a project, I just click on the project label. You can also add notes to your bookmarks as well. I rarely make use of this feature. However it could come in handy. Especially when your not sure, why you bookmarked something.
How do I add a Google Bookmarks?
If you have a Google/Gmail account, just log in and look for the bookmarks link. If you’re having trouble locating it. You can also access it directly by going to http://bookmarks.google.com.You can also add Google bookmarks one of two ways. You can add links by clicking the “Add Bookmarks” link and filling in the link details. You’ll need to supply a name for your bookmark and URL. You can also add labels and notes here as well.
Bookmark Button, What button?
You can also add a button to your browser’s toolbar to add links. I prefer this method. Adding bookmarks this way is as easy as bookmarking something in your browser. You just click a button marked ‘Google Bookmarks’ on your toolbar and review the bookmark before saving. To add this button to your tool bar simply drag the “Google Bookmark” button from the bottom of your Google Bookmark page to your browser’s toolbar.
Alright I’m Hooked, What about importing/exporting?
You can import your Google Bookmarks into your browser. Grab a copy of all your Google Bookmarks by clicking “Export bookmarks” link. This will give you a html copy of your Google Bookmarks. You can use this to import your bookmarks into your browser. Note: not all browsers will accept this format. There are a few extensions for Firefox that allow you to sync your bookmarks with Google Bookmarks. One I found is called GMarks. The extension adds a menu option with all your Google Bookmarks. With this extension adding bookmarks to Google Bookmarks works just like adding regular bookmarks. Even using the Ctrl-D keyboard shortcut works. You can even export your current Firefox Bookmarks to your Google Bookmarks.
I hope you find Google Bookmarks as handy as I have. It has made my work life much easier this past week. Sharing bookmarks between my work laptop and my home computer couldn’t be easier. Pass it on!

Can’t think of anything to write, give us some ideas for new mysterygoogle.com missions you would like to see hosted on mattkendrick.com!

My Mini City - Ale8oneville
My Mini City reminds me of Sim City, however you don’t really build anything. So how does your city grow? Simple, you give out a link and the more hits your city gets, the more it grows. However you have to generate a lot of traffic. Otherwise your city is going to remain small. You can also link to an RSS feed, that makes it easy to keep track of how your city is doing. We found out about it through mysterygoogle.com (awesome site). I decided to create “ALE8ONEVILLE” to honor my favorite soft drink ALE-8-ONE! If you would, visit Ale8oneville and give everyone a wave for me!

Looking for something fun to try? Try out Mystery Google. Simply enter in something on the Google search box on the page and click submit. Rather than it return what your searching for, it returns what other people have submitted. An interesting way to pass random messages on to perfect strangers.
For example someone may ask you to call a number and sing a song. Be careful what you ask for, you may get want you want. Heather (my wife) and I are enjoying all the posts. For those who have found this page via http://www.mysterygoogle.com/ place your comments here! Till then catch ya laters!
