Today I took a side trip to Morehead, KY to meet my mom. We had a little bit of time to kill before she went back home. I remembered, while going to school at Morehead State, there was an antique mall in nearby Farmers, KY. So we decided to pay them a visit.
The store is housed in an old schoolhouse built in the early 1930′s. Now re-purposed as an antique and craft mall, the building houses thousands of items for sale. Mom and I had plenty to look at. She quickly pointed out some of things her parents and grandparents had while she was growing up.
For example, we found an old kitchen gadget used to chop up eggs. It reminds you of the infamous “Slap Chop” you see on tv. However it is not near as automated to use. We also found many of the dishes and bowels like my grandmother had. There were old toys and trains. Baseball cards, sports magazines and other sports memorabilia. There was stuff everywhere.
All of the items were placed on consignment by varies people in the surrounding area. Everything was tagged with the price and vendor number. Prices were very reasonable for what the items were. If I had extra room and cash, I would bring more home. It’s a good thing I don’t.
If you find yourself in the Morehead, KY area, be sure to check out The Old Schoolhouse Antique & Craft Mall. You’ll never know what you might find.
